Thanksgiving Recipes

The holiday season is fast approaching and we will all soon be preparing for Thanksgiving! Just like purchasing a new car, planning a Thanksgiving Day menu can be overwhelming and in both cases, All Star Kia East in Baton Rouge is here to help! Thanksgiving is about coming together with family and friends to give thanks for all of the things that make life great. We wanted to share one of our favorite Thanksgiving recipes with you to make planning your menu a little easier and help save you a little time that can be spent with your loved ones. And if you plan on being a guest for Thanksgiving dinner, bring along this dish and you won’t disappoint. This twist on an old classic holiday recipe will have your family and friends begging for more!

Cornbread Dressing

– 2 boxes Jiffy Cornbread mix

– 2 large eggs

– ½ cup yellow cornmeal

– 2 tablespoon sugar (optional)

– 1 large bag Pepperidge Farm Sage and Onion Stuffing

– 1 large can (49.5 ounces) chicken stock

– 3 to 4 tablespoons rubbed sage

– 2 tablespoons cracked black pepper

– 2 to 3 tablespoons old bay seasoning

– 1 stick unsalted sweet cream butter

– 1 cup chopped sweet onion

– 1 cup thinly sliced celery

– ½ cup chopped green bell pepper

– ½ cup chopped red bell pepper

– 3 to 4 cloves minced garlic

Bake cornbread following box directions, after bread is finished set aside to cool. In a large deep pan pour Pepperidge Farm Stuffing mix, add chopped vegetables and garlic. Once cornbread is cool enough to handle crumble cornbread into large 1- 1/2 diameter chunks and mix with a large wooden spoon until cornbread, stuffing mix and veggies are combined. Add all seasoning into a small bowl and mix well then sprinkle mixture over stuffing mix. Start adding 1 cup of chicken broth at a time until mixture is moist but not too damp. You still want the chunky cornbread pieces. You do cornbread pieces soggy and falling apart. Shake pan until mixture is even and slice pats of butter all over the stuffing until the butter is all gone. Bake in a pre-heated oven for 1 hour. If cornbread is browning too quickly place a sheet of aluminum foil offer pan and continue baking.
